Gerdau is seeking a Rebar Detailer / Detailer Associate for its Napa, CA Reinforcing Steel facility.

Job
Summary:
Perform various repetitive and routine drafting, detailing and other related duties to produce accurate placing drawings and plans necessary for the fabrication and placement of reinforcing steel bars and related accessories in accordance with customer contract documents, industry standards and /or established practices and procedures. Use care to insure the efficient use of materials, fabrication methods and timely delivery of finished products. Utilize MicroStation and aSa computer aided design (CAD) detailing software to create placing plans. Proceed alone on simple and/or routine assigned projects and serve as project team member on small projects. Participate in detailer training program, receiving close supervision, direction and instructions from the Chief Detailer, project team leader, and/or Division Engineering Manager with regards to training needs and projects assigned. Assist others with problem resolution or coordination of detailing activities.

Responsibilities:
Prepare simple, routine and/or repetitive placing plans of structural components using customer structural and architectural drawings and specifications as assigned or directed.
Working closely with experienced detailers or supervisor to incorporate simple, routine elevations, sections, plans, bending details placing and material lists for use and interpretation by project leader, customer, engineer or architect.
Perform and record various mathematical calculations and equations using charts, graphs, handheld calculators and CAD system computer software programs.
As instructed or directed, create bar lists and orders for accessory items in accordance with the project pour sequence and schedule. Assist others or as directed, prepare run-in orders to accommodate customer requests, revisions or errors.
Coordinate routine project-detailing activities on assigned projects with team lead to insure on-time delivery to customer site locations in accordance with project delivery schedule and contract specifications.
Answer routine customer questions related to assigned projects or refer customers to more experienced detailers to resolve any outstanding issues or questions.
As instructed, make revisions to placing plans or drawings at the request of the team leader or department supervisor and follow up to obtain needed information or to resolve discrepancies in plan sections, dimensions, etc. Update approval drawings, investigate and incorporate customer/architect/engineer notations, and return to customer.
On occasion, travel with a team lead or supervisor to customer job site to resolve or assist others in resolving placing problems, obtain information, and to investigate claims involving company detailing services or fabricated products.
Document project requests, revisions, errors, or omissions, or any new orders that are not part of the original customer contract in accordance with standard operating procedure or, as instructed, by project leader or supervisor.
Maintain training materials and assigned project files in accordance with standard operating procedure. Backup and maintain computer files to prevent loss of detailing plans and customer information.
As directed, interface with accounting, sales and fabrication personnel to monitor job progress and to provide clarification, or to resolve discrepancies. Provide routine project information and complete detailed weight reviews per standard procedures.

Qualifications include:
Education preferred: 2 or 4 year technical degree in drafting or engineering field.
Rebar detailing experience preferred.
Knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD, as well as MS-Office.
Ability to read structural, civil and/or architectural blueprints.
Knowledge of and passion for the construction industry.
Excellent communication skills, multitasking skills and project coordinating experience.
