Our board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrists are highly skilled and experienced in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of eye disorders, and place clear, healthy vision as their top priority.
We have an immediate opening for a Ophthalmic/Medical Assistant Under the general supervision of Clinical Operations Supervisor, this individual is responsible for performing ophthalmic tests and photography to gather information, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients' conditions.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Communications and Patient Care:
Interacts with each patient using the level of respect and professionalism required by this practice.
Obtains patient history, to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past health history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
Performs other tasks as assigned by Physician, Supervisor or Administrator.
Triage Determines which patient should be taken next from the waiting room to have testing initiated.
Escorts patients from the waiting room for the data collection.
Following testing, advises as to who will see them next and makes them comfortable during the wait.
Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as required.
Escorts patients from the clinical area to the check-out station or optical dispensary, when necessary.
Administrative Seeks advice from more senior staff as necessary, never performing beyond capabilities.
Maintains stock levels and cleanliness of exam lanes.
Performs other tasks as assigned.

Experience:
The successful candidate will be eager to learn about medical ophthalmology as an assistant with potential to grow.
College-experience is excellent.

Education:
High school diploma; College-bound, or needing a part-time position while working on your education.
Medical Assistant education is very helpful.
Other Skills:
Spanish bilingual would be helpful; Ability to be on your feet most of the day; Ability to maneuver merchandise and lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to assist wheelchair patients by pushing wheelchair to and from testing area, exam rooms, check-in and check-out (Not lifting).
Physical activities include engaging in repetitive motions, bending, kneeling, twisting, stretching, squatting, pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking, reaching and/or using a step stool on a frequent basis.

Business hours are 8:
00 am to 5:
00 pm Monday - Friday, the person working in this position will be part-time based upon need.
This is position is non-exempt, hourly based upon experience and qualifications.
Annual Performance review, eligible for merit increases based on achievement of performance objectives.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a criminal background check and verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses and certifications, as applicable.
